Our BHHS students are having a blast on the Black College Tour! They've gotten a chance to visit Morgan State University, even running into a BHHS alumnae! While in Baltimore, they also visited and engaged with the history at the National Great Blacks In Wax Museum. We can't wait to see more about their experience! #TigerPride #BlackCollegeTour #BHHS

✨ BHHS JMG Students at Whirlpool! ✨ Yesterday our Benton Harbor High School JMG Scholars stepped into a whole new world during a visit to Whirlpool Corporation. From hands-on engineering challenges to team-building activities and problem-solving stations, our students were fully engaged, asking questions, thinking critically, and representing Tiger Nation with excellence, curiosity, and maturity. 🧡🖤 Seeing them collaborate, create, and confidently take up space in a global company was powerful. These are the moments that plant seeds… the kind that grow into careers, dreams, mentorships, and new possibilities. A huge thank-you to Mr. Corey Sterling and Whirlpool for pouring into our youth and creating opportunities for exposure, exploration, and empowerment. And an even bigger shout-out to our JMG students for showing up ready to learn, ready to lead, and ready to shine. Tiger Nation, the future is bright. #BHHS #JMG #TigerPride #FutureLeaders #CareerExploration #Whirlpool #WeAreBentonHarbor @everyone

Good afternoon Tiger Nation,

Recently, I was involved in a confrontation that was both regrettable and unfortunate. As your Superintendent, I hold myself to the highest standards of professionalism and care, and I deeply regret that this situation occurred.

Since that time, I have met personally with the parents and students involved. Through open and honest dialogue, we have reached a place of mutual understanding and reconciliation. I am grateful for their willingness to come together in that spirit.

As a district, we remain committed to fostering respect, empathy, and strong relationships across our schools and community. This experience has strengthened my commitment to modeling those values and ensuring that every interaction reflects the dignity and care our students and families deserve.

While we cannot share specific details to protect the privacy of those involved, our priority remains ensuring a safe and respectful environment for our students. Additional questions or concerns can be directed to info@bhas.org.

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership as we work together to create a positive environment for all members of our district community.

With respect and appreciation,

Simone Griffin, Ed.D.
Superintendent
