Students and Teachers in Costumes during Spirit Week

This past week, Benton Harbor High School had an exciting spirit week. This week, students were able to show off their creativity and school spirit with these fun theme days for Fall Spirit Week.

First up was Breast Cancer Pink Out Day. Everyone was encouraged to wear pink to raise awareness and support for those who are fighting against breast cancer. It was a very unique way for the school to come together and show their support.

Then there was costume day. Since Halloween was placed on a Tuesday this year, the second day of spirit week, students were encouraged to show off their best Halloween costumes. It was a chance for students to celebrate Halloween and show off their creative costumes.

Yeehaw! Cowboy day was another highlight of Benton Harbor High School spirit week. Students came in dressed like cowboys and cowgirls, with their hats and boots. On Wednesday the school transformed into the Wild West.

Don’t forget about twin day. Thursday students came in and teamed up with their friends or classmates dressed alike. Students were able to create their own twin outfits together, creating fun matching twin outfits. It’s a good way to showcase friendship.

As if that wasn’t enough, finally Friday was 90’s day for students. It was an amazing chance for students to dress in their 90’s throwback fashion attire. Baggy jeans, flannel shirts, scrunchies, and so much more! It was a super fun way to celebrate and show off their 90’s style.

I was able to interview two of my peers to get their opinions on spirit week. Makiah Kline states, ”I didn’t participate in fall spirit week this week because it was very last minute. I think this was better than homecoming spirit week because it had more things.”

Donald Harell states, ”I didn’t do fall spirit week because I couldn’t find anything for it. This spirit week was really random and they did it out of nowhere. It was something positive for the school though.”

In conclusion, Fall Spirit Week for Benton Harbor High School was amazing. Everyone who participated was able to come and show off their different styles and ideas. Spirit Week definitely left an impression on students.
