Coach Paul Wilhite Court

BENTON HARBOR, Mich., November 13, 2024 – Benton Harbor High School (BHHS) proudly unveiled its brand-new gym floor, officially dedicated as “Coach Paul Wilhite Court.” This significant upgrade—the first major renovation to the gym floor in nearly 70 years—was approved by the Benton Harbor Area Schools Board of Education in April, with construction beginning in August.

The new gym floor, located in the Don E. Farnum Gymnasium, offers a fresh look and upgraded surface designed to improve performance and safety for students and the community. The dedication of the court to Coach Paul Wilhite celebrates his legacy and profound contributions to Benton Harbor High School’s athletic programs and the community as a whole. The official dedication ceremony will take place on Monday, December 16, during the Benton Harbor Boys Varsity Basketball game against St. Joseph High School.

“This is a testament to the students, staff, and community that when we work together for a common cause great things can happen,” said Superintendent Dr. Butts. “We are working together and great things are happening in and for the students, staff, and community of Benton Harbor. As your Superintendent, I am committed to continuing the mission and vision of Benton Harbor Area Schools.”

President Dashuna Robinson, who played an instrumental role in the dedication, expressed her excitement, saying, “I’m extremely honored that my very first vote as a board member is coming to fruition today when I am in the position of President of the Board of Education. This is truly an honor.”
