To our school community,
Benton Harbor Area Schools(BHAS) is committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all of our students. We affirm that commitment by notifying families of events that affect our school or community safety as we work in partnership to support the well-being of our students.
On Sunday, July 13, a small fire occurred at the Benton Harbor High School track due to a mechanical malfunction involving equipment being used during ongoing renovations. Thanks to the swift response of the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety, the fire was quickly contained, and no injuries were reported.
We are grateful to our local firefighters for their timely and professional response. The damage to the track was minimal, and the construction company has indicated that there are no foreseeable delays to the project timeline.
BHAS remains committed to ensuring the safety of our students, staff, and community. We will continue to monitor the progress of the renovation and provide updates as needed.
Sincerely,
Dr. Christopher Bernick
