This Saturday, October 10, is World Mental Health Day. This year’s theme, “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change,” reminds us of the importance of listening and supporting one another.
At Benton Harbor Area Schools, we’re committed to creating safe, supportive spaces where students and staff feel comfortable asking for help.
Tiger Family, take a moment to check in with someone:
💬 How are you feeling today?
💬 How can I support you?
Our school social workers and support staff are here to help. Contact your school’s main office for more information.

BHHS student Franklin Ruiz completed his first flight through the CTE Aviation program offered by Countryside Academy! On the first day of fall, Franklin took the controls of a Cessna 172, lifting off from Southwest Michigan Regional Airport.
Through CTE partnerships, BHHS students can access specialized career and technical education programs offered at other area schools, expanding their opportunities to explore future careers.
What an incredible hands-on learning experience and milestone. Congratulations, Franklin! 🐅✈️

Every day gives our Tigers opportunities to connect with friends, learn from teachers, enjoy meals, build new skills, participate in activities, and have caring adults in their corner.
Missing just two days a month can add up to almost a month of school by the end of the year. That’s a lot of learning, memories, and connections missed.
If something is making attendance difficult, reach out. We’re here to help. Every day counts. Every Tiger counts.

Dear Staff and Families,
The Benton Harbor Area Schools Board of Education will hold a meeting on Tuesday, September 22, at 6:00 p.m. in the High School Library. The agenda and live-stream information is available on our website at www.bhas.org
🐯🧡 Quick math, Tiger families.
Missing just two days a month adds up to 18 days by June—almost a full month of school.
Excused or unexcused, every missed day adds up. Students who miss 10% of the school year are considered chronically absent, which can make it harder to keep up in class.
If something is getting in the way of regular attendance, please contact your child’s school to let us know. Our team is here to help!
Every day counts. Every Tiger counts. 🐅
